The Boys’ sleepover (Part 1)
As narrated by Zee:
“Maaaa, I’m back!” I call loudly, shutting the front door behind me.
Hamza and Meez head to my room to leave their things there, while I head to the kitchen.
“Assalaamualaikum,” I greet, hugging Ma.
“Wa’alaikum Salaam,” she replies hurriedly. “Ziyaad, Nana’s brother has been admitted into hospital. Here’s the supper. When you’ll ready to eat, put quarter cup boiling water and warm it on medium heat. We’ll be back after Easha.”
“Okay..” I acknowledge slowly, trying to digest what Ma just said.
She hurries out of the kitchen to get ready.
I hear the garage door open, and shortly thereafter, Nana walks into the house.
He greets me quickly and asks for a glass of water.
“Shenaaz! Shenaaz, come, are you ready?” calls Nana.
The boys come into the kitchen, Hamza chuckling and Meez looking quite confused.
“Your granddad just mistook Meez for you in his rush,” says Hamza.
I grin.
“Be right back,” I say, closing the tap and going to give Nana his water.
“Nana?” I call, knocking on the door.
“Jee? Come in, beta.”
Pushing the door open, I go in, give Nana his water and then retreat back to the kitchen.
“Alright boys, here’s the deal. Nana’s brother is in hospital, so they’re going there,” I say, leaning against the counter.
“Oh cool!” says Hamza. “Not for your Nana’s bro, but you know what I mean.”
As soon as my grandparents have left, we go to my room.
“Alright, let’s see what these losers got for us,” I say, throwing them their respective packages.
Meez grabs the paper we were instructed to go through before we open our packages and begins to read aloud.
“It starts of by saying, ‘This is payback for all the times you’ll pranked us.. now’s our turn!’,” says Meez.
At that exact moment, I get a Skype notification.
“Seems like they’ve already started,” I say to the boys, seeing Dee’s name appear on my screen.
“Hello there,” I greet.
“‘Ellooo,” replies Dee. “You guys started?”
“Nopes, we just sat down now. Nana’s brother is in hospital so Ma and Nana went there.”
“Oh okay, what happened?” she asks.
“Ma didn’t say,” I reply, only realizing now.
“Alright. Well, we’ve started,” she says, moving her phone to show us their face mask items set neatly beside three bowls.
“Awesome, don’t forget to send pics!” I say, a bit confused as to why Dee hasn’t sworn me yet.
Isn’t she the target in this task? Maybe they just haven’t read what’s to be done yet.
Amz says something in the background but I don’t catch it.
“What did you say, Amz?” I ask.
“Nothing, nothing,” Dee replies quickly, trying to hold back a grin.
“Okay, we’re going to start ours now,” I say. “Keep us updated.”
“Of course, of course,” says Dee, a side smirk appearing on her face. “Have fun!”
“Something’s off,” I say, once I’m disconnected. “Let’s get started!”
Meez completes reading the page, and then we proceed to open our packages.
Each package contains three smaller packages.
We set aside the ones marked ‘Task 2’ and ‘Task 3’ , and open the ones marked ‘Task 1’.
“Task 1 -Build it: Tepee.” I read off the page that was in the packet.
“Mine says, Task 1 -Find it: Necessities for the night. Oh, I don’t really like the sound of that,” says Hamza.
We look at Meez expectantly as he unties the knotted strong and takes out the instructions page from his packet.
“Task 1.. Oh damn!” he groans.
“What does it say?” asks Hamza.
“It says, Task 1 -Make it: Dessert,” reads Meez.
Hamza and I laugh.
“It might be something easy, let’s see,” I say, looking back at my page.
We each read silently.
And then we’re all muttering under our breaths, clearly annoyed.
“When did they become such geniuses?” grumbles Meez.
I have to build a Tepee, which sounded easy, and even fun, in the beginning. But, I have only 3 items!! 5 sticks, a sheet, and a blanket!
Hamza’s sounded like a better task… until he told us what he has to find.
“The play station controllers and games, Zee’s junk stash, my toothbrush, the icing sugar for Meez’s dessert.”
“What?? How did they get my junk stash?!” I yell.
“How am I going to brush my teeth?!” complains Hamza.
“Meez, what dessert do you have to make?” I ask.
Meez reaches for his instructions page.
“It sounds pretty easy. It’s called Meringues,” says Meez.
“What??” I ask, slightly amused, slightly horrified. “You have to make meringues?”
“Yeah,” Meez replies frowning. “Why?”
“That’s one of the trickiest things to make ever!” I say, remembering how Humairah complained for a whole week after hers flopped 3 times in a row.
Meez swears under his breath and I whack him with a pillow.
“Language!”
“I thought we were going to have fun!” he complains.
“Well, we are!” I yell, jumping up. “C’mon, let’s get this party started!”
Hey. Hi. Hello. Salaam. Bonjour. Salut. Ciao. Ahoj. Bog. Marhaba. Ola.
Guys, I’m so sorry the post is late. It’s only been 2 days, but holiday mode (OMG IT’S HOLIDAYS… FINALLY!) whacked me into a world of oblivious delusion to reality. Rightfully so though, that exam period was longer than… urm, Pinocchio’s nose when he lied? *Hide*
Hope you’ll enjoyed the post.
Until the next one..
Much Love,
Troubled Illusioner. ❤

I find both tricky. The first time I made them I was surprised that every one says they hard but they came out right. They always flopped after that 🙈
